Sustainable Leadership

With the aim of training people committed to society, with ethical values and capable of exercising responsible leadership in any field. In this sense, these are the programs we develop:

Social Responsibility Department

We have an academic manager who analyzes and develops the topics to be addressed with a social focus in the Postgraduate and Executive Education programs (seminars, cases, documentation, evaluations...).

Continuous Improvement System Program

It allows fostering relations between students, professors and companies. Through the creation of Committees, stakeholders are involved in the improvements introduced in the Institution. The Project is accredited by the State Agency ANECA, which accredits the quality of Higher Education in Spain in accordance with the European Education Area.

ESIC on the Board of Trustees of the Bequal Foundation

In 2014 ESIC joined this entity composed of the Committee Spanish of Representatives of People with Disabilities (CERMI), the ONCE Foundation, FEACEM and the Seeliger y Conde Foundation. This initiative values the commitment of companies that promote business policies to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities.

Student Access measures

ESIC is committed to achieving SDG5: Gender Equality, seeking to empower women and female students so that it has a multiplier effect, not only helping to promote economic growth, but also development at a global level, creating a fair and equal society.

In the following degree reports it can be seen the measurement of the entry profile, the dropout rate by profiles, the graduation rate, external internships, mobility students, teaching staff, etc.

  • ESIC applies existing state policies regarding maternity and paternity leave.
  • No restrictions are placed on reductions or extensions of timetables to encourage family conciliation. The timetables of all staff are adapted to conciliation processes, so there are as many timetables as there are people.
  • It also has a policy of flexibility in the working day in the case of maternity as well as paternity leave, as well as for any other personal situation that has to be considered.
ESIC annually measures and analyses gender ratios in terms of enrolments as well as graduations, and it analyses and proposes improvements when they are necessary. This information is published in the corporate ESIC website, according to qualification.

Employment practice

ESIC works to stimulate economic growth in a sustainable way promoting policies that stimulate entrepreneurship and job creation among others, in its commitment to achieving the objectives of SDGs 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.

  • ESIC reports to MERCO the salary bands of workers, which make no distinction based on gender, as well as other data regarding working conditions.
  • There is wage equality without distinction according to gender, and there has never been a difference in wages due to this reason. Wages are classified according to position and category, as well as academic level in the case of the teaching staff.
    On the other hand, to ensure that women apply for management positions there is a process that guarantees equal opportunities for professional careers.
  • Equality plan has a diagnosis to measure salary deviations and positive and negative discrimination has been measured.

ESIC works to stimulate economic growth in a sustainable way promoting policies that stimulate entrepreneurship and job creation among others, in its commitment to achieving the objectives of SDGs 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.

Our Technical Unit for Diversity aims to provide support to all the people who are part of the Diversity Project.

This team will carry out actions nationwide aimed at meeting the following objectives:

  • Scholarships and grants
  • Accessibility (Physical and Technological)
  • Employability support for people of all groups
  • Promote socially responsible purchasing at ESIC
  • Work orientation and intermediation actions (internship and professional careers service)
  • Actions to promote entrepreneurship

People who are part of the Diversity group may request any help from the Technical Unit to Diversity(diversity@esic.edu), both physical and technical as well as academic. This Unit will coordinate the necessary actions to solve specific needs with all ESIC areas /departments.

Measures for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

ESIC seeks to promote a peaceful and inclusive society for sustainable development, ensuring human rights by facilitating access to justice for all and creating an effective, responsible and inclusive institution at all levels.

All this information is collected and extended in the student's welcome manual on pages 21 - 23

  • With the local community, organizing and promoting cultural activities: conferences, classical music concerts, theatre performances, etc., as well as sports and cultural activities organized by the local community.
  • Also from business for business [Executive Education training area]. ESIC provides training for companies in different sectors.
  • It also provides language skills through ESIC Idiomas.
  • We have relationships through the Advisory Board by professionals and management staff.
  • Presence in secondary schools and vocational training centers, holding free training events, information fairs, competitions, activities... etc.
  • With students and professionals from Spain and other countries, ESIC collaborates through the "Global Marketing Competition", the ASTER Awards and the "Global Marketing Competition".
  • Specialisation for the relationship with professionals has the event "Hoy es Marketing", presentations by experts and marketing directors from leading companies.

Stakeholders are identified in all procedures and policies of the School, including the premises outside the university (stated on the second page of each procedure). They have been available since the 20th of November 2006 on the ESIC website. And they have been updated since then.

  • SDGs Observatory Lab: The Department of Sustainable Economy, Productive Sectors, Trade and Employment, in collaboration with ESIC, has set up three Social Transformation laboratories that aim to disseminate the principles and good practices of the social economy and transfer them to the rest of the actors in the productive sectors.
    The first laboratory will be called "LAB-ODS" and will focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is made up of researchers trained in different fields of science, which makes its work dynamic a constant interdisciplinary exchange and debate, as required by the SDGs themselves.

ESIC encourages its teaching and administrative staff to actively participate in the discussion of the new challenges facing education in all areas, including sustainability and social responsibility.

Our collaborations are a meeting point between academic experts and prestigious executives from the business world where they are invited to reflect. As a result, books, scientific articles and documentation notebooks are published and disseminated by ESIC Editorial and the ESIC Research Department.

In addition, our advisory board, made up of professionals from leading companies in their sectors, actively participate in meetings and debates of national and international reputation on how to face the new challenges affecting the business world at congresses.

Measures for Partnerships for the Goals

The successful implementation of a development agenda requires inclusive partnerships on principles and values, as well as on a shared vision and goals that focus first on people and planet. At ESIC we believe that strong international cooperation is needed now more than ever to ensure that countries and institutions that have been affected by the pandemic, recover and build back better and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

ESIC organizes and participates in many workdays and cross-sector conferences in connection with the SDGs. Some recent examples are shown below:

Student volunteering programs:

  • Orbayu: is a non-profit foundation of the SCJ Congregation whose purpose is to grant microcredits in the third world. ESIC and GRUPO SANTALUCÍA also participate in the foundation.
  • More ESICIt is a group of volunteers made up of students and teachers, which allows us to grow as a person by helping others. The initiative, launched in 2013, aims to contribute to creating a better and more caring world. ESIC collaborates with the following non-profit organizations this year:
    • Caritas and Fundación San Martín de Porres - EAPN Institutions that fight against social exclusion and poverty with which we have developed Webinars to increase the visibility of their work and social awareness of the problems they face.
    • Food Bank and Fundación Madrina: Participation in the "Gran Recogida del Banco de Alimentos" and "Operación Kg" respectively to fight against social exclusion.
    • Health and Community Foundation - Fundación Instituto San José: ESIC has participated in "Operation Cold" with these two foundations that fight against social exclusion. ESIC organizes blood donations
    • SDG 4 and 8. Veron Foundation: Educational projects that improve social and labor social and labor integration.
    • SDG 5. Luz Casanova: Inclusion of women and minors who are victims of gender violence. In addition, 5 ESIC students have carried out an online active volunteering as school support for minors who suffer gender violence.
    • Achalay, Inclusive Cultural Club: Opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to expand their work and personal skills.
    • SDG 10 and 2. Tossall.org: support for the solidarity and social shopping and sales platform by the organisation of an online solidarity market to raise funds for the construction of a social soup kitchen in Ecuador.
    • Tumaini NGO that connects volunteers with development projects in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
    • SDG 16. NGO "International Cooperation: Social transformation through volunteering, awareness, innovation and development. ESIC has actively participated in the toy operation "An smile for Christmas", promoting solidarity and volunteering.
