Culture and landmarks
Madrid is filled with all kinds of different areas to explore and feel like one is completely lost, but in a fun way, of course. Museums are abundant, with top destinations like the famous Prado museum offering the highest quality art of its time. There are also tons of beautiful landmarks to visit that make sure that there is something new to do every day, whether it be an off day or after classes. Also, there is a large amount of parks to sit around, do some homework, or just simply relax in. Madrid always offers a new place to visit for any occasion or style of person.
Nightlife
Madrid has no shortage of fun nightclubs and rowdy locals who want to have a good time. Couple this with the many university students who want to have a good time and the night practically makes itself. Teatro Kapital is a famous club to visit and make sure that the time spent in Madrid does not go to waste! And be sure to enjoy a nice sangria while being out and about; that is the national drink and it is one of the most important parts of going out.
Student Life
As aforementioned, there are plenty of fellow students to meet and mingle with while in Madrid. There will always be locals who want to help navigate or other students in the same boat! Plus, students get free entrances to the previously mentioned museums as well as plenty of other places with discounts. They try to have plenty of events for international people as well, so there are tons of chances for interacting with many other people of all kinds of backgrounds and cultures. The large number of people makes this the perfect place for those looking to make new friends.
Spanish Immersion
If someone is interested in learning more Spanish or having a richer immersion into the culture, then look no further than Madrid. Everyone speaks Spanish and it is a great time for anyone looking to perfect their language. That's not even mentioning the food, which is excellent. Tapas are probably the most common thing to eat around, but there is no going to Spain and not eating tapas!
Cost of Living
Overall, Madrid may be a bit expensive, depending on what a person ends up deciding that they want to do while they are there. For those looking for a relaxed place with museums and culture, then it can be pretty cheap with all the discounts offered. However, if one decides to go partying and to eat at high-priced restaurants, things get much more complicated and expensive. In general, if meals are included in a meal plan, then the overall spending may amount to around 500 euros per month, with results varying depending on activities and things to do. It could be more or less expensive, it depends on what the temperment of the person living wants to be like.
