Synopsis and Contents

Management training requires attention to different areas and issues whose interweaving marks the development of the company and, ultimately, its success and survival. The operations area is an extremely important area because it focuses on the central core of the company's activity: obtaining the goods and/or services that we offer to the market in order to generate value. Decisions made here must be in line with the company's objectives and strategy, and their scope extends to other functional areas. For all these reasons, management training in this area is crucial in both its theoretical and practical dimensions. The book focuses on the latter as it proposes a series of activities and solved problems that allow to deepen the meaning of the basic concepts and to see the practical application of the contents of the subject.

When approaching the study of this discipline, a challenge is posed by the breadth of issues and content it covers. The authors have selected the strategic and practical issues that they consider essential. Thus, the book is organized into six chapters: production process design, chain balancing, operations scheduling, project scheduling, inventory management and P.R.M. Each chapter contains a synthesis of the subject, a glossary for analysis and a collection of practices on the subject. As for the practices, all contain four sections: statement, questions, objectives and resolution. The aim of the book is to provide teaching material that is useful for both teachers and students in the operational area. For teachers, the book provides a collection of solved practical activities that serve as a reference for the practical development of the subject. In the same line, for students, the book includes a set of activities that allow them to deepen the meaning and applicability of their knowledge.
